Spider veins are the tiny reddish to bluish veins that are seen in the skin, usually on the legs and sometimes on the face.

The best treatment spider veins of the legs is sclerotherapy. With this procedure, a tiny needle is inserted into the vein and medicine is injected that causes the vein to close down and go away. Usually, it takes several treatments. Sometimes there are a few brown spots that remain afterward. This is called pigmentation and usually will clear with time.

Spider veins are considered a cosmetic issue and their treatment is typically not covered by insurance.
