In March, I went to a week long meeting in Miami about varicose veins. What impressed me most was the large number of doctors attending, about 300, who were there starting there own vein practices. Vein clinics are developing all across the country because the new procedures are faster, easier, safer and work better than the old vein stripping surgeries.

This is a rapidly developing field. A new focus of attention is treating perforator veins which are veins that connect from deep veins directly out to varicose veins. There are several options for treatment. Its not clear yet which is the best option.

We next plan to visit a large busy vein clinic in Dayton, Ohio for a few days at the end of June to pick up a few more ideas for vein treatment.
